The Queen Anne Victorian style began in late-19th century New York and quickly migrated across the country. Curiously, it bears no resemblance to English architecture from the reign of Queen Anne (1702-1714).
A Queen Anne Victorian home typically has a steeply pitched roof of irregular shape, an asymmetrical façade, some sort of porch and bay windows – or another aesthetic device used to avoid the appearance of flat façades.
