Upcoming Rose Planting at Markham House

The following is a ROYAL UPDATE from the Royal Rosarians

Join Fellow Rosarians on April 24

On April 24, 2016 the Royal Rosarians will conduct a rose planting ceremony at 4:00 p.m. at the historic Markham House located at 450 NE 32nd Ave, in Portland. The ceremony will tie in with a Community Open House scheduled that day from 11am-4pm. Arrive by 3:00 p.m. to tour the property.

The Markham House was built in 1911 as the Laurelhurst Neighborhood’s real estate office. The house has been frequently in the news the last few years as one of the many historic houses facing demolition. The original contractor who planned to raze the building was bought out after a much heralded fund-raising effort by the community. John McCulloch of McCulloch Construction, stepped in as the new owner and contractor to restore and renovate the property. The house will be put up for sale this summer.
