Before & After: Irvington Colonial

Sitting empty for seven years, this handsome house was rotting.

The two windows on the right remain in the same place. We added 40% more space, replacing the random earlier back addition with one that mirrors the original sides of the house.

We used a daring color in the dining room and copied the shapely arch
for the cabinets in the new butler's pantry.

This rabbit warren of a hallway originally featured 7 doors and was horribly dark. We extended it about 20 feet and built the new lovely kitchen, swathed in light from every direction.

We turned two rooms into one master. The "gold" color shows where the 2nd bedroom was. Before a ruinous 30's remodel the master was 35 feet long with a fireplace. We restored that, and then added a sun room, bath, and closets.

The old kitchen was only 8' by 10' with a bad '60s remodel. We grew the kitchen to 30' by 30', installed great custom cabinets and a marble counter top, and added an attached family room.

If you follow the line on the floor where we removed a wall, you can see that an old closet had cut off the fireplace in the master bedroom. The after picture is from the new sun room addition.

The Story of the Irvington Colonial . . .

The property sat empty for seven years. McCulloch Construction purchased it for restoration. The place was dark and had a disorganized and badly sinking owner-built addition on the back. The team went to work. McCulloch Construction added a major addition and gave the house a modern floor plan while maintaining an authentic old-house feel.
