The Mid-century Modern Style

Mid-century Modern Style

Mid-century modern style homes gained popularity in post-WWII American suburbs where new desires for informality and fewer divisions between parents and children began to be recognized in design. Meanwhile, the proliferation of television sets impacted floor plans by decreasing the demand for small rooms dedicated to libraries or activities like sewing. These homes feature open floor plans, great rooms and minimize the division between interior and exterior with lots of large windows and/or skylights.

McCulloch Construction was hired to make this mid-century modern ready for a 21st century five-person family by removing walls to further open the floor plan and bringing some much-needed sophistication to the 1980s remodel.
